For the second night in a row, the Fort Wayne TinCaps reached double digits in scoring while defeating the Lansing Lugnuts. After beating the Lugnuts 10-2 on Monday, the TinCaps collected a season-high 17 hits in an 11-4 win on Tuesday at Cooley Law School Stadium in Lansing.
Fort Wayne scored in each of the first four innings while building a 9-0 lead. Starting pitcher Logan Allen held Lansing scoreless for six innings while allowing three hits and striking out six. Allen, 2-2, lowered his ERA for the season to 1.80.
Allen was relieved by Jose Galindo who pitched two scoreless innings. Galindo walked three in the seventh but got out of the bases-loaded jam with a strikeout to end the inning. The Lugnuts were able to score four runs in the ninth off Mark Zimmerman.
Fernando Tatis Jr., Reinaldo Ilarraza, and Hudson Potts had three hits to lead the TinCaps. Tatis and Potts each homered and had two doubles and three RBI's. For Tatis it was his fourth home run of the season while it was the second for Potts.
Three other players had two hits each for Fort Wayne. They were Eguy Rosario, G.K. Young and Marcus Greene Jr. Jack Suwinski and Rod Boykin each had one hit to complete the offensive attack for the TinCaps.
The teams were scheduled to complete their three-game series at 10:30 Wednesday morning.
