New Haven gains revenge as they top Blackhawk Christian in rematch

New Haven gained a measure of revenge from earlier this year as they topped Blackhawk Christian on Thursday in a game at the Huntington North/Columbia City Holiday Hoops Tournament.
In the first of two games from each team at Huntington North during the day, the Bulldogs’ bench chipped in big as they overcame a deficit at the end of three quarters to avenge a 78-76 loss to the Braves on December 2.
Diamond Towns led 10 different New Haven scorers with 30 points, connecting on six of his team’s 11 three pointers. James Gardner added 10 points for the Bulldogs and Joey Rowan hit three triples for nine points.
Blackhawk Christian’s Drake Thompson scored a team high 26 points in the win, but suffered a broken foot that reportedly could keep him out of action for 10-to-12 weeks according to coach Marc Davidson. Thompson added 16 rebounds in the loss. Jalan Mull added 10 points and 10 assists for the Braves and Lucas Kroft and Luke Sassmannhausen each added nine.
Other games from the Huntington North/Columbia City Holiday Hoops TournamentHuntington North 61, Gary Lighthouse 51: In another game of the Huntington North/Columbia City Holiday Hoops Tournament, the Vikings got five three-pointers and 23 points from Hunter Hollowell in the win. Joe Stoffel added nine points, all coming in the second quarter on three-pointers.
Hamilton Southeastern 84, New Haven 62: The Bulldogs fell in the second game of the day at the Huntington North/Columbia City Holiday Hoops Tournament despite 16 points off the bench from Brecar Clark. Ivan Upshaw added 11 points in the loss and Diamond Towns had nine.
Leo 56, Norwell 48: At the Columbia City site of Huntington North/Columbia City Holiday Hoops Tournament, the Lions got 21 points from Jeremy Davison to top conference foe Norwell. Luke Stoller added 12 and Will Moreau had 10 for the Lions. Norwell was led by 13 points each from Cody Shively and Cole Wilson. Will Geiger added 11 for the Knights in the loss.
Merrillville 60, Norwell 36: Norwell lost their second game of the tournament, falling behind for good in the second quarter. Will Geiger led them with 12 points and Cody Shively added eight.
Hamilton Southeastern 87, Blackhawk Christian 52: The Braves held the game within 10 points much of the way, but fell out of contention late without an inside presence to help defend Hamilton’s Zach Gunn, who scored 16 of his game high 20 points in the second half. Lucas Kroft and Jalan Mull each scored 12 in the loss and JP Visser added 10. Mull had seven assists and Kroft had six rebounds.
Huntington North 56, Lake Central 35: Hunter Hollowell scored 17 points and was joined in double figure by Chazz Bruce with 12 and Zach Daugherty with 11 in the win.
