New Haven gains revenge as they top Blackhawk Christian in rematch

Friday, December 30, 2016 9:35 AM
New Haven gained a measure of revenge from earlier this year as they topped Blackhawk Christian on Thursday in a game at the Huntington North/Columbia City Holiday Hoops Tournament.

In the first of two games from each team at Huntington North during the day, the Bulldogs’ bench chipped in big as they overcame a deficit at the end of three quarters to avenge a 78-76 loss to the Braves on December 2.

Diamond Towns led 10 different New Haven scorers with 30 points, connecting on six of his team’s 11 three pointers. James Gardner added 10 points for the Bulldogs and Joey Rowan hit three triples for nine points.

Blackhawk Christian’s Drake Thompson scored a team high 26 points in the win, but suffered a broken foot that reportedly could keep him out of action for 10-to-12 weeks according to coach Marc Davidson. Thompson added 16 rebounds in the loss. Jalan Mull added 10 points and 10 assists for the Braves and Lucas Kroft and Luke Sassmannhausen each added nine.
