Judge named to bankruptcy court

Judge James R. Ahler was appointed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to a 14-year term as U.S. bankruptcy judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana in Hammond.

Ahler will replace Bankruptcy Judge Philip J. Klingeberger who will retire June 15.

Ahler was appointed in 2007 and then elected and reelected to the Jasper County Superior Court in Rensselaer, where he presides over criminal and civil cases.
