A man who pleaded guilty to robbing a gas station in June 2016 was sentenced Tuesday in Allen Superior Court.

Trevonn D. Johnson, 23, of South Bend, was ordered to serve five years of an eight-year term for robbery, a Level 3 felony.

As a man walked up to the pay window of the gas station at 2:35 a.m. June 26, 2016, Johnson admitted he approached and pointed a handgun at him before demanding his money. The man gave him his money, wallet and cellphone while two other people were pumping gas into their vehicle. About three hours later, the man checked his GPS phone tracker and found his cellphone was in South Bend.

The victim positively identified Johnson from a photo array, and Johnson was interviewed at the South Bend Police Department.

He also was ordered to serve two years on probation and to pay restitution of $800. He has 52 days' jail credit.
