A Fort Wayne Police Department detective appeared in misdemeanor court Thursday morning to answer to two OWI charges.
Stacey M. Jenkins, 48, of the 7200 block of Allenbrook Boulevard, was arrested Wednesday morning for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent at least .08 but less than .15, according to court documents.
According to the probable-cause affidavit, an officer Jenkins was found sleeping in his vehicle at 3:42 a.m. Wednesday at Maplecrest Road and Georgetown North. The officer noted Jenkins was swaying as he walked. While Jenkins appeared to have watery and bloodshot eyes, his speech was good and he was cooperative.
A chemical breath test administered at 5:08 a.m. Wednesday indicated a .101 percent blood alcohol content and another at 5:15 a.m. indicated a .096 percent blood alcohol content.
Fort Wayne Police Chief Steve Reed announced he placed Jenkins on paid administrative leave until the Board of Public Safety convenes to determine the next course of action.
