Isabella Kelley, 55, of the 5800 block of Bunt Drive, faces preliminary Allen Superior Court charges of battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness for allegedly stabbing a 66-year-old neighbor man in the head Thursday morning at his apartment.

The Fort Wayne Police Department received a report about 9:20 a.m. Thursday that a stabbing had taken place at the man's apartment. When police arrived, they found the man bleeding on the right side of his head, a police report said. He allegedly told them Kelley had stabbed him several times in the head.

The man was taken to a local hospital in good condition, police reported.

Officers found Kelley standing outside her apartment, they reported. She looked like she had been in a fight, and had a swollen right eye and a scrape on one arm, the report said. Police also found two children in her apartment and called the state Department of Child Services to pick them up and arrange care for them.

The Allen County Jail declined to accept Kelley because of her injuries, so police took her to a local hospital for treatment, their report said. Kelley, who declined to discuss the incident with police Thursday, was booked into the jail Friday.
