A Fort Wayne man received his sentence for robbing a Burger Dairy store and the attempted robbery of a Marathon gas station over Labor Day weekend.
Zachary J. Jauregui, 19, of the 1900 block of Kentucky Avenue, received five-year terms for each offense Tuesday in Allen Superior Court. Of the five years, Jauregui will be required to serve two years, with three years suspended and 1 1/2 years on probation. Both terms will be served consecutively, or one after the other, meaning Jauregui will serve four years.
The Level 3 felonies also require Jauregui to serve 75 percent of his sentence. Jauregui admitted he robbed a Burger Dairy store Sept. 3. He approached the cashier with a knife and asked for $200 in cash. The victim gave him between $70 and $80.
Jauregui then admitted he attempted to rob the Crescent Corners Marathon gas station Sept. 5 — also at knifepoint — but was unsuccessful.
