A woman who had been shot last November in the backyard of a home in the 700 block of Walnut Street was determined to be a homicide. Jessica Elizabeth Bruch, 23, of Fort Wayne, is the 49th homicide victim in Allen County for 2016, according to the Allen County Coroner's Office, which had determined Bruch died of gunshot wound(s) shortly after her death, but had not decided it was a homicide until Wednesday.

Fort Wayne police reported Bruch died about 9:50 p.m. Nov. 12 at St. Joseph Hospital, where she was brought at about 9:30 p.m. The person who brought her to the hospital told investigators she had been shot in the backyard of a home in the 700 block of Walnut Street, near Taylor Street and Brooklyn Avenue.

The incident remains under investigation by police, coroner and Allen County Prosecutor's office.
