A bar that was closed after five people were shot Sept. 13 is set for demolition Monday, according to a news release.

The Sept. 13 shooting, which killed three people, spurred the closing of Sports & Spirits Bar, 1723 E. Wayne St. Over the course of 10 years, police were called more than 400 times to that location. In all, 12 shootings, seven stabbings and 19 claims of shots being fired have been reported.

Mark Deister, president of Deister Machine, has asked local faith leaders to gather at 8 a.m. Monday for a remembrance ceremony and demolition of the bar he purchased. Deister plans to erect a memorial for the tragedies that took place in that location.

The intersection of East Wayne Street and South Anthony Boulevard will be closed for the demolition.
