New Haven veterans ride set for May 13

New Haven will host its 8th annual Veterans’ Memorial Ride to benefit Schnelker Veterans' Memorial Park on Saturday, May 13, at American Legion Post 330, 330 Entrance Drive.

Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when the opening ceremony begins. The 40-mile ride will depart the Post at 1 p.m. A motorcycle expo will be held between  11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the a Legion open house, food and live entertainment by the Backwater Band will be available from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A $10 donation will benefit the veterans' memorial in Schnelker Park. In case of rain, the event will be held June 3.

The Shepherd’s House, which helps veterans and their families obtain benefits and service earned through military service, will be represented. The American Legion Auxiliary will also be at the Legion Post to sell poppies, the memorial flower of the Legion and Auxiliary. The poppies are only available during May, and donations will be used to help New Haven veterans and their families.
