Tonight's Trek the Trails community bike ride has been canceled because floodwaters caused by recent rains have poured across the Towpath Trail, which was the location of the ride, a city of Fort Wayne news release said. Some parts of the trail are impassable.

The free, guided bike rides will return next week at 6 p.m. May 16 with a trip on the newly completed portion of the trail network along Covington Road, the news release said. The ride begins in the parking lot of The Chapel church, 2505 West Hamilton Road.

The city started the Trek the Trails program eight years ago to encourage people to explore unfamiliar parts of the local trails network by going on a guided bike ride, the news release said.
