Blaze Pizza will hold its grand opening for its first Fort Wayne location Aug. 21.
The Pasadena, Calif.-based chain's restaurant will be at 401 Coliseum Blvd. E., in the refurbished Corner Shoppes, where Bobick's Golf's north store used to be.
The restaurant will open to the public at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 21, the day after an invitation-only soft launch event.
Blaze Pizza refers to itself in a news release as a "fast-casual pizza concept that specializes in build-your-own pizzas. You go down the line, pick your toppings from a variety of meats, cheeses, veggies and sauces, and the 'pizzasmiths' cook your 11-inch personal pizza in under 3 minutes." The 5-year-old company has NBA player LeBron James as an investor and opened its 200th franchise last month.
Its pizzas include the Art Lover made with artichokes, mozzarella, ricotta, chopped garlic and red sauce dollops and the White Top with white cream sauce with mozzarella, applewood bacon, chopped garlic, oregano, arugula. The dough is made in-house daily and doesn't have artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, according to the company's online menu, which includes salads, drinks and s'more pie, cookies and brownies for dessert. Pizza prices vary by location and run about $8.50 for the 11-inch pick-your-toppings.
From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 the local location will host a Free Pizza Day. Anyone who "likes" Blaze Pizza on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat will get a free 11-inch pizza with any toppings.
