Golden Hoosier Award nominations sought

Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Golden Hoosier Award, which began in 2008 and honors Hoosier senior citizens for their lifetime of service and commitments to their communities. Completed applications, found at www.Ig.IN.gov must be submitted by May 24. Awards will be presented June 23 at a ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse.

Discovering Historic Auburn

Discovering Historic Auburn, an event where families can ride horse-drawn wagons and view historic homes, takes place 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Sixth and Jackson streets, downtown Auburn. Free. Museum passports at the information tent offer free admission to Auburn museums.

Blue Bucket Brigade activities

The Blue Bucket Brigade, a collaboration between youth and police, will be present 8 a.m.-1 p.m. June 9, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9 at Walmart stores in Allen County. Youth will be able to become "Deputy for a Day," receive a certificate and have their picture taken with a police officer.

Meijer Simply Give campaign begins

Meijer begins its 2017 Simply Give campaign where shoppers are encouraged to purchase a $10 Simply Give donation card upon checkout. Once purchased, the donation is converted into a Meijer food-only gift card and given to a local food pantry in need. The campaign will run through June 18 and once again coincide with this year's Meijer LPGA Classic.

New MHANI website

The Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana has announced a new website, GuardianshipFrontDoor.org, which features pages explaining the process to establish guardianship, information about when a guardian is needed and who can act as a guardian.
