Bret Michaels joins State Fair concerts

The Indiana State Fair recently announced the additionof Bret Michaels to its 2017 lineup set to take place at the Chevrolet Silverdo Free State. The Fair will be August 4-20, and each night will feature a concert that is free with paid fair admission. 

Online Fair ticket slaes are available now at ta discounted rtateof $8 plus transaction fees on the Indiana State Fair website, www.indianastatefair.com/state-fair. Tickets can also be purchased at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum Box Office during regular business hours at the discounted rate. Tickets purchased at the gate are $12. 

Wind art project coming to Main Library

GRIT Collaborative's Wind: Traveling Great Distances will be 2 p.m. July 23 at the Allen County Public Library, Theater, Lower Level 2, 900 Library Plaza. This gusty event of dance, music, and visual art will feature over a dozen international artists traveilng from near and far to investigate wind.

Considering wind as kinetic energy, weather factor, and cultural metaphor, participating artists and the audience have the opportunity to be the anemometers and weather vanes for this unique, collaborative event. Featuring eight compositions for chamber ensemble and electronic media, sculptures and paintings by Seattle-based artist Lindsey Schoeneman, and choreography by Bowling Green-based dancer Sophia Jarrell, will interact with the music and performers on stage. 

The event is free, open to the public and family-friendly. 

Carillon sonata coming Saturday to Culver

John Gouwens will present the fourth recital in the series of six summer programs on the 51-bell carillon at Culver Academies at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Memorial Chapel, Culver. The Culver Carillon consists of 51 bells, cast in England in 1950-51 by the Gillett & Johnston Bellfoundry. 

Gouwens will open the recital on a dramatic note with the  "Sonata for Carillon" by Robert Moore, a composer from Oklahoma city.

Youtheatre to present three musicals

Fort Wayne Youtheatre's TravelingTroups will celebrate three rivers and the city built on them through three 30-minute musicals entitled "Underwater Panther," "The Baseball in the River" and "The Ghost of the Main Street Bridge."

Performances will be 1:30 p.m. July 10 at YMCA-Harris Elementary; and 2 p.m. July 11, Aboite Library.

Comics Ruff, Armbruster coming to city club

Fort Wayne Comedy Club welcomes Keith Ruff and Nate Armbruster at 7:15  p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Saturday at  2104 S. Calhoun St. 

Keith Ruff has been a stand-up comedian since4 1988. He works across the Midwest and Canada in states including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and New York. He has appeared with such names as "Home Improvement's" Tim Allen, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The O'Jays, Toni Braxton, George Carlin, Manhattan Transfer, and B.B. King.
