The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) announced on Wednesday its school classification assignments for the next two years.
Due to the IHSAA's Success Factor rule, Snider has been bumped from 5A to 6A in football. It is the lone area program moving up in class.
Moving down are a trio of programs formerly in 2A. Eastside, Churubusco and South Adams will compete in 1A in football for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years.
In boys basketball, Bishop Dwenger and ColumbiaCity have been bumped into Class 4A from 3A. The move now puts 12 area programs in Class 4A, hopefully leading to a pair of all-local sectionals over the next two years.
The Woodlan boys and girls basketball programs have been pushed into Class 3A competition from 2A.
New sectional groupings will be announced in May.
