Lots of stuff tonight, so please be patient… Why did the Komets start Garrett Bartus on Wednesday when Pat Nagle has played exceptionally well? Bartus was 0-1-1 against Toledo during the regular season, but he was also 4-0 whenever the Komets were stuck in a two-game losing streak, and 7-1 after a loss with a 1.50 goals against average and .939 save percentage… With Bobby Shea and Kyle Follmer in the lineup, the Komets started the game with seven defensemen and nine forwards compared to the usual six and 10. Then the Komets lost defenseman Will Weber to an undisclosed injury during the second period and they needed the extra defenseman… Tylor Spink skipped the game with the flu for the Walleye… The Memorial Coliseum doors had signs on them that said, ``Artificial noisemakers including cowbells and air horns are not permitted in the building. Please return them to your car before entering.''… Besides playing Bartus, the Komets also shuffled their lines, going with Shawn Szydlowski, Trevor Cheek and Garrett Thompson on one; Jamie Schaafsma, Mike Cazzola and Kyle Thomas on another and Travis Ewanyk, Gabriel Desjardins and Mike Embach on the third… The Orlando Solar Bears have been sold to the owners of the Orlando Magic… Tom Didier did a nice job on the national anthem to drown out the Toledo fans… Everyone will gripe that the Komets didn't get enough traffic in front, but I have hundreds of pictures that showed they actually did… Doesn't it feel like Jeff Lerg is daring the Komets to try to beat his glovehand?... The Komets may have had the ECHL's best home record this season, but the Walleye had the best road record… Toledo defensemen did an exceptional job of blocking shots in Game 3. In fact, the Walleye played the perfect road game, waiting for Komets mistake to create scoring chances… It doesn't feel like a 3-0 deficit because each game has been decided by one goal and the Komets have been in each game until the final seconds… Also doesn't feel like the Komets are out of it, partly because they aren't intimidated by playing in Toledo after Games 1 and 2… The Komets have never rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win a series, and frankly they have only had five chances, but captain Jamie Schaafsma has. In 2010 when he was playing for Flint in the IHL, the Generals trailed Muskegon 3-0 before rallying to win the series and then face the Komets in the last Turner Cup Finals. Schaafsma also was part of an Allen team that rallied from a 3-1 deficit two years ago against Ontario… “It's important to remind guys of stuff like that. In this league and in sports in general, every game is a different game. We have a good hcokey team in here and the important thing is to keep believing and stick together. We're looking to make a great story here.” ... What do the Komets have to do to get going and have a chance? Jamie Schaafsma and Shawn Szydlowski don't have a point in the series, and Mike Cazzola doesn't have a goal and Jason Binkley who led all Fort Wayne defensemen with points during the regular season, doesn't have any in this round.
