Snider's Mike Barnfield was selected as the DeKalb Health Boys Basketball Fan Vote Player of the Week for the third week of the season. Barnfield received 62.22 percent of the vote.
The Panther senior scored 13 points on Friday in a win over North Side that propelled Snider to a 2-0 start in the Summit Athletic Conference. Barnfield hit the game winning shot, beating the buzzer with a three-pointer at the end of overtime.
Bishop Luers' Anton Berry and Blackhawk Christian's Kole Barkhaus tied for second place in voting with 11.07 percent of the vote each. Berry led Luers past Horizon Christian on Tuesday with 22 points and 16 rebounds, while Barkhaus put in 20 points on Friday as the Braves beat Canterbury. Other nominees were Trejean Didier of South Side and Dillon McCann of Garrett.
