Homestead senior Karissa McLaughlin, considered by some to be the top candidate for this year's Indiana Miss Basketball award, earned another News-Sentinel Fan Choice Player of the Week honor for her play last week.  McLaughlin scored a combined 68 points in three Spartans victories in the SAC Holiday Tournament as the program won the event for the second-consecutive season.

The guard, who passed Canterbury's Kindell Fincher for 4th all-time in area girls basketball career scoring, has kept up the hot play this week with a 34-point effort Tuesday in a victory over Lawrence North.

McLaughlin earned 56 percent of the vote to capture the weekly award. The closest competition was Snider senior Kyla Covington, who received 25 percent of the vote.

Other candidates were Kelli Damman of Carroll, Lexi Dellinger of South Adams and Sylare Starks of Concordia Lutheran.

A total of 398 votes were cast.
