A complete list of nominees for the 2017 McDonald's All-American game has been released and five area players are nominees, which will now go through the selection process, that will narrow the list down from hundreds of nominees and will culminate at the on January 15 with the announcement of the 2017 McDonald's All-American teams, which will be made up of 48 total players: 24 boys and 24 girls. The announcement will be made during a selection show on ESPNU at 10:30 p.m Eastern time on the 15th.

Karissa McLaughlin of Homestead headlines the female nominees. The senior surpassed 2,000 career points earlier this season and is considered a top contender in Indiana's Miss Basketball race. Whitko's Aly Reiff and Canterbury's Mason VanHouten are also nominees.

They make up three of the seven players from the state nominated, including Madison Wise of Greenfield Central, Macee Williams of Fountain Central, Daly Sullivan of St. Joseph's and Rachel McLimore of Covenant Christian.

On the boys side, Mr. Basketball candidate Malik Williams of Snider headlines the two area nominees. Also nominated is Marcus Smith of Horizon Christian Academy. They are two of 10 nominees from the state including North Central's Kris Wilkes and six players from LaPorte LaLumiere.

The 16th annual girls game and 40th annual boys game will be played on March 29 at the United Center in Chicago and will air on ESPNU (girls) and ESPN (boys).
