BLOOMINGTON – One Blackmon leaves, another comes.

In this Indiana basketball case, guard Vijay Blackmon will join the Hoosiers as a walk-on a couple of weeks after older brother James decided to skip his senior season and stay in the NBA draft.

Vijay Blackmon will head to Indiana after playing 22 games for Saint Francis last season as a true freshman. He averaged 9.2 points and more than 14 minutes a game before leaving the program in January.

Blackmon had a strong start with Saint Francis. He scored in double figures in his first eight college games. However, he reached double figures in just three of his last 14 games.

The younger Blackmon will provide backcourt depth for the Hoosiers. They return Robert Johnson, Josh Newkirk, Devonte Green and Curtis Jones. They are bringing in freshman Al Durham.

IU has 12 scholarship players, one below the NCAA maximum.
