Fort Wayne Police were investigating the shooting death of a man found early today in an apartment off Lower Huntington Road. The death follows the stabbing death of a man Thursday night, which has been ruled a homicide. At around 12:25 a.m. today, police responded to the 7200 block of Lakeridge Drive in reference to a shooting, according to police spokesman Officer Jason Anthony. Officers found a man inside the apartment suffering from an apparent single gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead.

Detectives interviewed witnesses who were inside the apartment when the shooting occurred. Police were unclear of the circumstances of the shooting early today.

The Allen County coroner’s office is expected to release the victim’s identity along with the cause and manner of death after an autopsy.

This death remains under investigation by police, the coroner’s office, and the Allen County prosecutor's office.

The man's death follows the Thursday night stabbing of Raynell C. White, 30.

Police were dispatched to an area near the intersection of Wayne Trace and Drexel Avenue at around 8:19 p.m. to investigate reports of a fight with a possible stabbing, according to previously released information.

Witnesses told investigators that a fight had taken place at a nearby lot of a gas station, with a pickup leaving the scene that possibly contained a person involved in the fight.

An Indiana State Trooper spotted and detained a truck sometime afterward; a man was taken for questioning but no arrest was made at that time.

The homicide remains under investigation. It is the fourth in Allen County in 2014.
