Letter to the editor: Buskirk good choice for commissioner

Thursday, April 17, 2014 - 12:01 am

With the upcoming election on the horizon, I’m writing to encourage Allen County residents to get out and vote for Roy Buskirk for Allen County Commissioner, 3rd District, on May 6.

Roy has proved himself an effective leader as our county councilman at large over the past 12 years, and when elected he will continue to be a great public servant as our county commissioner. Roy has been a voice for the people all the years he has served Allen County in filing away on the budget and saving tax dollars wherever he can.

I’ve known Roy personally for many years, and I’ve been able to observe Roy’s honest and ethical standards as he has made good decisions throughout the years.

Roy is a Vietnam Army veteran, who served in the 82nd Airborne/Military Police. His conservative views were instilled at a young age from his family, where he learned to work hard on the farm and appreciate his neighbors and church family. His ties to Allen County go back six generations to 1850 when his family moved here from Ohio and began farming. After graduating from Lafayette Center High School in southern Allen County, Roy graduated from International Business College with a degree in business administration and finance. His background as a small businessman includes real estate and auctioneering, and recently he retired as a right-of-way buyer for the state.

Roy is pro-life, and as a conservative he is always looking out for the taxpayers of Allen County. He listens to the views of the people, and works tirelessly for them, as he has the best interests of those he serves. He is a person my wife and I trust to make good decisions, and we encourage you to vote for him.
