Christianity had a long run as the world’s most violent religion.
In response to the column by Ben Brickman where he states, “So, why would anyone think that being a believer marks you as a target? The fact is that our society is becoming increasingly intolerant of those who believe.”
Oh, please! Christianity was the most intolerant religion for centuries. The church started killing unbelievers as early as the fourth century. The killings (often with torture) of heretics, church splinter groups, dissenters, atheists, agnostics, deists, pagans, infidels and unbelievers were supported by almost all mainstream Christian theology for over a thousand years.
Estimates are that over 68 million people were murdered.
Please forgive me, Mr. Brickman, if I don’t pity you, but my heart goes out to the 68 million human beings, babies, kids, women and men, wives, mothers, husbands, fathers, daughters, sons, aunts and uncles who were murdered because of Christian intolerance.
