According to Java Mama Cafe's website, www.javamama.com, the first Java Mama opened in California in 2007. The company now has a handful of stores, from California to Canada. It's described as a place “designed especially for parents, caregivers and children alike. We are a place where adults relax, meet up with friends or plug in to free WiFi to get some work done while little ones explore, imagine and create in our specially designed play area.”
It will serve gourmet coffee and drinks, sandwiches, soups and salads, and healthy snacks for kids. It will offer classes for adults and children and a supervised play area for children ages 6 and younger. We'll let you know when Java Mama announces an opening date.On Wednesday the Fort Wayne Jersey Mike's Subs will donate 100 percent of the day's sales to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana as part of Jersey Mike's “Day of Giving.” The restaurant is at 6408 W. Jefferson Blvd.Students in the Special Cuisines class at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast will serve a Middle Eastern-themed dinner Thursday. The a la carte dinner will feature soups, salads, sides, entrees and desserts, including:
•Hummus with toasted pita chips.
•Sweet and sour eggplant salad.
•Fish baked in tahini sauce.
Reservations, which are required, are taken for times between 5 and 6:30 p.m. To make reservations, call 480-2002. Dinners are served in the Hospitality Room on the Coliseum campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., and run $20, cash or check only.
