Today brings the Vernal Equinox, or the official beginning of spring.
Yes, finally! Spring is here!
Twice a year, the earth's axis is angled in a way that allows the world gets an equal amount of daylight and night. As the axis tilts further, the northern hemisphere receives more direct sunlight, leading to spring and summer's warmer temperatures. The Equinox helps mark important celebrations around the world such as Nowruz, the Persian New Year, Easter, and Passover.
We have been waiting on it all winter long. From the record-breaking low temperatures to the snow that swallowed our homes and cars whole, we survived. Store away the coats and gloves and break out the bright colors, because spring is finally here.
Now that we've all made through one of the toughest winters in a while, let's test our knowledge of spring. You've been waiting for it, but how much do you actually know?
