Letter to the editor: County Council needs two voices at the table

Monday, March 3, 2014 - 8:34 am

I am running for Allen County Council's 4th district seat as a Democrat. I graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs and recently went back to take graduate courses to become a Certified Public Manager.

I am running for County Council because I believe this community deserves passion from its elected officials. The monopoly of elected seats by the Allen County GOP has allowed them to become content with the status quo.

Allen County Council has become a stamping agency for any business requesting tax breaks, without much follow-up on actual job creation. That isn't sustainable or responsible, and it doesn't help preserve this great community for your children or mine.

This community deserves two voices at the table, sorting out what is best for everybody. I'm ready to be that other voice for the people who feel excluded or left behind. Serving others is my passion, and I hope you will elect me to serve you in November.
