Severe-weather preparedness week coming up

National Severe Weather Preparedness Week will be Sunday-March 8, sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. The event is a nationwide effort to increase awareness of severe weather that can spawn tornadoes and to encourage everyone to know their risk and take action when necessary.
Even though snow is still covering the ground, officials warn that severe weather can come suddenly with a small temperature change. Indiana, for example, experienced its first two tornadoes of the season last week.
