Urbahns to leave city of Fort Wayne for new role with Greater Fort Wayne Inc.

Greater Fort Wayne Inc., the combination of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Wayne/Allen County Economic Development Alliance, has announced that John Urbahns will join the organization as its executive vice president of economic development.Urbahns, who has been the director of community development for the city of Fort Wayne, will lead initiatives relating to attraction and expansion of businesses, downtown development, innovation and entrepreneurship, among other duties, according to a news release.

He is also expected to work closely with the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership in order to help align the two organizations in pursuit of common goals.

Urbahns held his current role with the city for the last seven years and has been with the city since 1996, the release said.

He will start with Greater Fort Wayne on Jan. 6.
