Hey, Washington, get up when the alarm goes off and skip the daylong coffee breaks.
The U.S. outlawed slavery over 200 years ago. Then why do we still have corporate slavery today? You go to work for the owner of your business on a holiday just like the slaves did for the plantation owner. Nothing will change until the workers unite and say we are mad as hell, and we won’t take it anymore.
I took a ranter’s advice and called State Sen. David Long, and asked him not to change the (daylight saving) time.
I have been a teacher with FWCS (Fort Wayne Community Schools) for 22 years. My paycheck on Nov. 22, 2013, was 22 cents more than my paycheck on Nov. 15, 2009. 22 cents! I honestly don’t know how Wendy Robinson and her school board sleep at night.
Stores open now on Thanksgiving Day. What’s going to be next? Wednesday?
Are you telling me Rusty York going from police chief to safety director is going to reduce the crime in the city? Perhaps he plans to sic the animal control officers on the thugs, or maybe use the firemen.
The 10 percent buyers premium now being invoked by many auctioneers is a rip-off of both the buyer and seller.
No decent person should crave a luxury item while fellow global citizens starve.
Wow! Job creation: $124,000 public safety director. Who woulda thunk it? (Mayor) Tom Henry did. I guess that’s why he gets the big money. You could give 1,240 city workers a $100 Christmas bonus. It would do a lot more good than what York is going to do.
Most people who have been care givers all their lives are not featured on front page of the newspaper, but these people know all the good they have done with no money.
Waste of money Fort Wayne turning on the lights the night before Thanksgiving. Use that money to shelter and feed the poor. All lighted Christmas lights could do that and more.
What will be left of the Legacy fund once all the “studies” are done?
Spend thousands of Legacy money. Don’t you dare spend a dime to raise all manhole covers up to grade. Bump, bump.
To tea party members who want smaller government: Do you realize your police, fire, water, sewers and roads are great because of federal grants? If you want to live like it’s 1850, then move to Montana. I sure hope you know how to hunt, skin an animal and cook.
Now the officials control college basketball. … Once again, they will ruin a game that is huge in the state of Indiana. Don’t touch, don’t speak, don’t play. This society is on it’s way down. Sissies have won the battle.
How did we ever get to the point in America where millions of non-rich people use their vote to uphold the financial interests of the wealthy elite who care nothing for them?
The City Light utility “Legacy Fund” should be set aside for the government-required sewer updates. Instead, it’s being frittered away on studies and projects that could be deferred until they are actually needed. The $150 million sewer update is a known, not an “I-would-like-to-have project.”
Jeers to the … retailers who have taken what a lot of people consider their favorite holiday and turned it into another shopping day. Not only have they ruined it for their employees, but also for their customers by telling them if they want the best deals, they have to leave their Thanksgiving dinner and their families to shop. … I, for one, have decided to only do my Christmas shopping at stores that were closed on Thanksgiving.
I wish people would stop breeding pit bulls. Check the lost and found every day at Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. Most of the pit bulls are not claimed. Very few are adoptable, so most are put to sleep. Be responsible.
