Fort Wayne is part of a sister city program with Gera, Germany.
In the past we have hosted or extended an invitation to several Gera police officers. There is no budget to accommodate our guests while they are visiting Fort Wayne. Usually a fellow police officer houses the visitors and is responsible for showing them various sites and experiences in our amazing city. During our guests’ two- to three-week visit it can become very expensive.\
That is why I am so thankful for the support from local businesses of the program. Lena Loch, a chief with the Gera Police Department, was recently here to experience our city and work on her English skills. She was able to experience numerous different restaurants and activities I believe really showcased the heart of The Fort.
I want to thank the following organizations for their generous donation to help make Lena’s stay here one she will always remember. I also want to thank them for their support of the city sister program and assistance in making it possible to entertain our past and future guests: Allen County Courthouse/Judge Fran Gull, Allen County Juvenile Center, Air Boat No. 1, DeBrand, Don Hall’s Gas House, Dr. Bill Lewis, Center for Children/Child Advocacy Center, Fort Wayne Botanical Gardens, Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Fort Wayne Community Schools, Fort Wayne History Center, Fort Wayne Police Academy, The Embassy, The Harrison, Lincoln Tower, Sexual Assault Treatment Center, The Green Frog, Tower Tavern, Trion Tavern, Ziffle’s Ribs.
