INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police have arrested a 26-year-old man on preliminary charges stemming from a crash that killed one person and injured several others riding in a church van.

Police say Brandon D. Collins was being held Monday at the Marion County Jail on preliminarily charges of failure to stop following a crash causing injury and death and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious injury or death.

Police say Collins ran a red light Sunday night and crashed into a van carrying 18 people returning to the Jesus House of Prayer Temple.

The van's driver, 51-year-old Edward Sadler, was killed and a 7-year-old girl was seriously injured. But Police Lt. Christopher Bailey says the girl's injuries are not life-threatening.

Eleven other passengers in the van suffered minor injuries.
