Writer named finalist

Fort Wayne writer Denise Hunter was named a finalist in the Carol Awards from American Christian Fiction Writers.

New book

Susie Duncan Sexton of Columbia City has written her second essay collection, “Misunderstood Gargoyles & Overrated Angels,” which will be available Oct. 31 at www.open-bks.com, www.amazon.com and www.susieduncansexton.com.

John Morrow, associate professor of Spanish and French at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, has published “The Covenants of the Prophet Muhammad with the Christians of the World” by Sophia Perennis and the Angelico Press. The academic book is being marketed toward university libraries and will be available at Amazon's and Barnes & Noble's websites.

Poetry reading

The University of Saint Francis will hold a poetry reading with visiting author Matt Hart at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Student Center, 2701 Spring St. Free admission.

Bookflix

Bookflix is for ages 6-14 who like to read and watch movies, and it meets at 4 p.m. Oct. 7 and Oct. 21 at Tecumseh branch library, 1411 E. State Blvd.
