What callers at first thought was a bicyclist hurt in a wreck on Spy Run Avenue turned out to be a robbery victim jumped by assailants and left bleeding on a sidewalk, according to a Fort Wayne Police report.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Spy Run, initially on a report that a male bicycle rider had been hurt. He had, but it turned out that he had been “jumped,” according to one witness, by two other males who beat and robbed him.
Medics at the scene of the crash believed the bike rider was hovering somewhere between good and serious condition, and he was taken to a local hospital. The victim's name was not released.
The most complete description available from witness accounts said that one attacker was a black man, 19-20 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall, slender, with very short hair, dressed in a red shirt and white shorts. The other was described as a black man, 19-20 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall, with medium or slender build, very short hair, with dark shirt and denim shorts.
