Allen County Fair officially open

Annual celebration runs through Sunday

The Allen County Fair opened Tuesday morning with a variety of animal-centered and entertainment events on the schedule. Tuesday highlights included poultry and rabbit shows, a greased watermelon contest, a youth talent contest and a karaoke contest.

Today is senior discount day, on which seniors age 55 and old pay only $3. Thursday is designated as kids day and will feature many family-friendly activities, such as kid crafts, pony rides, a corn maze and a cookie stacking contest.

Admission to the fest is $5 daily, with children age 5 and younger free. Events take place at the Allen County Fairgrounds, 2726 Carroll Road. For more information, visit allencountyfairgroundsIN.com.
