Wednesday, July 17, 2013 - 12:01 am

Rock band Devour the Day, which mentions Fort Wayne in a song on its debut album, will perform with headliner Sevendust and local band Downstait at 7 p.m. today at the Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers Festival.

The concert takes place at the festival plaza pavilion in Headwaters Park East, Clinton and Superior streets. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $18 at the gate, or $15 with a TRF button. Children ages 12 and younger are free with a paying adult.

Buy tickets in advance at the TRF office, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays at Three Rivers Luxury Apartments North, 102 Three Rivers North; and the Embassy Theatre box office, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays at 125 W. Jefferson Blvd.

Devour the Day includes Joey “Chicago” Walser and Blake Allison, both of whom formerly played with the band Egypt Central, which had a strong following in Fort Wayne, publicist Amanda Cagan said.

In Devour the Day's song “Handshakes To Fistfights,” from the album “Time & Pressure,” the band sings, “Fort Wayne couldn't save me, Infatuation isn't love; I went … crazy, It showed me who I really was.”

Lyric videos for that song and another from the album, “Good Man,” are available on the band's YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/devourtheday.

The album, released May 7, features Walser on bass, backing vocals and songwriting and Allison on lead vocals, guitars, drums, songwriting and producing.
