Kosciusko authorities invetigate Leesburg bank robbery

Saturday, July 13, 2013 - 8:35 am

Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputies are investigating the robbery of a Leesburg bank Friday afternoon.

Deputies were called at 4 p.m. regarding a robbery at the Leesburg branch of the Farmers State Bank at 205 S. Main St. County detectives investigating the incident have said a man entered the bank wearing a dark-colored mask over his nose and mouth. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and did not display a weapon at the time of the robbery.

The robbery was described as white, about 6 feet to 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and in his mid to late 50s. He was described as having gray or white hair, with either a beard or goatee that came to two-prong or fork-style points at his chin. He was wearing a red ball cap, blue T-shirt, dark-colored cargo pants, and white-and- silver running shoes.

The suspect fled the bank in an unknown direction by driving a silver or gray early to mid-1990 station wagon, possibly a Chevy Cavalier or Ford Escort.

Anyone with tips is encouraged to report them to the Kosciusko County Dispatch Center at either 1-574-267-5667 or 1-574-372-9511, or anonymously by using the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department TIP line at 1-574-372-2494.
