Upcoming road closures feature work on railroad crossings

A section of Covington Road will be closed for more than a week while a railroad crossing is reconstructed.The section of Covington at the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing between Brooklyn Avenue and Freeman Street will close Wednesday and is scheduled to be reopened June 7, according to a news release. A detour will use Freeman, Taylor Street and Brooklyn, the release said.The reconstruction of a railroad crossing will prompt the closure of a section of McArthur Drive for more than a week.

The section of McArthur between Ideal Avenue and Bradbury Avenue will be closed on Tuesday. The work on the railroad crossing is expected to be completed by Friday, June 7, according to a news release. No detour route was listed.A section of Engle Road will be closed while a railroad crossing is reconstructed, prompting a detour route to be established.

Engle Road east of Ardmore Avenue, near McClure Court, will be closed on Wednesday and is expected to reopen on Monday, June 3, according to a news release. A detour route will utilize Ardmore, Lower Huntington Road and Bluffton Road.A stretch of the Airport Expressway will be closed next week while a railroad crossing is reconstructed.

According to a news release, the closure will begin on Tuesday for the section of Airport Expressway between Ardmore Avenue and Bluffton Road. The work is scheduled to be finished on Friday. A detour route will utilize Ardmore, Ferguson Road and Bluffton Road, the release said.Pavement restoration after the installation of a water main will prompt the closure of a section of Old Trail Road for a week.

The work will begin Tuesday and continue through June 4, weather permitting, according to a news release from the city's Traffic Engineering Department. The section of Old Trail Road being affected is between Lower Huntington Road and Fairoak Drive.Adams Center Road between Seiler Road and Moeller Road will have lane restrictions Adams Center Road between Seiler Road and Moeller Road 8 a.m.-4 p.m. June 3-4.Washington Center Road between Cross Creek Boulevard and Innovation Drive will have lane restrictions 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday for bridge repair.
