Gratitude goes out to Mayor Tom Henry and all who presented a Day of Prayer to ask God to help us curb the violence in our city. All of the faiths who were represented gave inspiration to everyone in attendance to continue to pray for an end to violence.
This was such a unifying event in prayer and song. As an attendee, I felt a very special similarity in all the prayers even though the presenters had a great diversity in beliefs. Many Christian denominations, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Baha’is, Unitarians and Hindus sought to call upon a loving God to be with us with one voice. I left feeling, wouldn’t it be great if this unity could really happen in our everyday lives? It is a unity of prayer to our loving God that can bring about a unity of community.
This event should stand as a precedent for other cities, towns and states in our country to do the same so that we can bring violent hearts of stone to be turned into hearts for love alone.
