Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder said “we will never change the name of the team,” in response to possible legislation that would label name Redskins “racist and derogatory.”Snyder may have taken it too far, however, in hiring Taylor Swift to write the Redskins' new theme song, “We Are Never Ever Getting Out of the 1960s.”Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was fined $35,000 for saying the Bulls are “not going to get calls” in their playoff series with the Miami Heat. In another move related to the Bulls, Chicago law enforcement has changed the term “assault and battery” to “playoff basketball.”

Meanwhile, Bulls guard Nate Robinson said LeBron James is a “good actor” for falling after down after being pushed by Nazr Mohammed. James took the high road and another couple million for his next commercial.Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young was arrested three times within a week, including twice in the same day on suspicion of driving under the influence and trying to take his car from a tow yard.

No, Young is not a professional football player anymore, but he was driven past a Holiday Inn Express on his way to the police station.Rutgers new basketball coach Eddie Jordan never received a degree from the school, although the school's biography says he did. Jordan said the issue was one of an error in registration.

George O'Leary is wondering why he didn't think of that.Testifying in a lawsuit, a former EA Sports producer says the company's college sports video games were designed to replicate existing athletes without using their names. Thousands of 16-year-old males would not have been surprised by that "news" if they had stopped playing video games long enough to hear it.New York Jets coach Rex Ryan says he will return to play-calling on defense this season, something he did during his first two years with the team. Ryan would have coached the defense last year, but he was too busy not playing Tim Tebow.First baseman Anthony Rizzo has signed a seven-year, $41 million deal with the Chicago Cubs. The deal includes two Cubs options at the end of the contract and, of course, does not require any work in October.
