The TinCaps' latest win should have been hosted by Casey Kasem because the hits just kept on coming.
Fort Wayne pounded out 21 hits – five players had at least three – and beat Lansing 17-8 on Saturday at Parkview Field. The TinCaps improved to 8-6 and play the Lugnuts again at 3:05 p.m. Sunday at Parkview field.
Dane Phillips was 4-for-6 a triple, a home run and four RBIs and Corey Adamson was 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the TinCaps. Others with three hits were Maxx Tissenbaum, Albert Martinez and Stephen Carmon. Gabriel Quintana and Luis Tejada had two hits apiece.
The Lugnuts pounded out 14 hits off TinCaps pitchers, led by three hits apiece from Christian Lopes and Carlons Ramirez.
Ruben Mejia picked up the win on the mound for the Tincaps, striking out seven in three innings while allowing only one run.
