CLINTON — A western Indiana man is being called a hero for jumping into a stream and rescuing a dog that someone tried to kill.

Troy Jones tells WTHI-TV he heard something whining this week down by a creek and looked over to find a young Labrador mix with cinder blocks tied to its head and its legs tied together. A nearby note said someone wanted the dog to die.

Jones took the dog named Serendipity home and cleaned her up.

Dareth Stonebraker of the Parke-Vermillion Humane Shelter in Clinton says Serendipity is in good shape and doesn't have any physical wounds.

Serendipity is now up for adoption.
