Wartell: Nobody waived goodbye

Friday, April 5, 2013 - 12:01 am

Michael Wartell, former IPFW chancellor, has sued parent university Purdue for forcing him into retirement at age 65 as part of a drive to hire more women into administrative positions. He alleges gender discrimination, his case being bolstered by the facts that Purdue has waived the mandatory retirement age for other senior administrators, and he was replaced by a 64-year-old woman.

It is worth noting, given the circumstances, something some of you may have remembered: IPFW was the first public university in Indiana to offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in women's studies. Ouch.
