TODAY

STUDY IN STEEDS: Explore the history of Mexican folk art with a visit to the exhibit “El Caballo: The Horse in Mexican Folk Art” now through April 28 at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, 311 E. Main St.

Mexican folk art dates back more than 2,000 years and continues today in villages and cities, the museum says on its website, www.fwmoa.org.

This exhibit focuses on folk artists' depiction of horses and horse-related subjects. It includes 22 pieces of art, including ceramics, metalwork, paintings, paper art and sculpture.

On April 4, regular admission includes a gallery talk on the exhibit at 12:15 p.m.

Museum hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, but open until 8 p.m. Thursdays; and noon-5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $7, adults; $5, students kindergarten-college; $12, families; and free, members and military personnel and their families. The museum also offers free admission to all visitors 5-8 p.m. Thursdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.

FRIDAY

EASTER DRAMA: The story of Jesus Christ's life, death, resurrection and ascension to heaven comes to life during the stage musical “Messiah” at 7:30 p.m. at Abundant Life Church, 3301 Coliseum Blvd. E. This is a full-scale theatrical production with detailed sets and costumes, special effects, and more.

Additional performances are at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Doors open at 6 p.m. each night.

Floor seats are sold out for Friday and Saturday; balcony seats those nights are $8, adults; $4, ages 6-12; $1, ages 5 and younger; and $6 per person for groups of 10 or more ages 13 and older. For Sunday, balcony seats are available for the same prices as Friday and Saturday; floor seats are available and are $12, ages 13 and older; $6, ages 6-12; $1, ages 5 and younger; and $10 per person for groups of 10 or more ages 13 and older.

For tickets to the Friday or Saturday performances, buy them 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at the church or call 432-0014 to charge with a credit card. In addition to these methods, tickets for Sunday can be ordered at www.abundantlifecares.com.

ROCK SHOW: Enjoy the music of the band The Waiting: Tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers at 9 p.m. at Piere's, 5629 St. Joe Road. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.

SATURDAY

HISTORY TEST: You can celebrate April Fools' Day early with the Fool Hardy History Contest from 2 to 4 p.m. at The History Center, 302 E. Berry St.

The hands-on trivia game challenges visitors to identify strange and unusual items from the museum's collection, a news release said. You can start planning your guesses by going to The History Center's Facebook page to see photos of a few of the items.

Prizes will be awarded to the adult and student who identify the most items correctly, the news release said.

History Center hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, noon-5 p.m. Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month.

Admission is half-price all afternoon as part of the Downtown Improvement District's Last Saturdays activities. Half-price admission is $2.50, adults; $1.50, ages 59 and older and ages 3-18; and free, ages 2 and younger and members.

MOON ROCKERS: Relive the musical and sensory experience that is Pink Floyd's “Dark Side of the Moon” as tribute band Pink Droyd performs that and other Pink Floyd hits at 8 p.m. at C2G Music Hall, 323 W. Baker St.

Pink Droyd was created with members from a few other Pink Floyd tribute bands, including EarthBound Misfits of Fort Wayne, it says on the C2G website, www.c2gmusichall.com. Pink Droyd re-creates the look and feel of Pink Floyd concerts with accurate performance of the music, stellar lighting, a laser show and digital video.
