Letter to the editor: Martha Freygang made the world a better place

Thursday, March 21, 2013 - 12:01 am

There were no headlines or breaking news stories announcing the loss of Martha Freygang on Feb. 27. Although she was not famous outside her circle of family and friends, she made a lasting impact on countless lives.

Martha and her husband, Richard, celebrated their 60-year wedding anniversary in October, 2012. Together, they raised 10 children and by example taught them to be faithful to God, gracious, hard-working, independent and healthy.

Martha’s occupation was a registered nurse, and her priority was her faith and family.

She didn’t talk about being stressed or worn out — any stress she felt must have been released through her dancing, singing, laughing, exercising and card playing. The world is a better place for having had this selfless, beautiful soul in it for 83 years.

We need more Martha Freygangs in this world.
