IPFW senior forward Frank Gaines was honored for a memorable feat on Monday by College Sports Madness.
The Web site honored Gaines as the Summit League Player of the Week, after setting the career scoring mark in a victory over Bowling Green on Saturday.
Gaines averaged 21.5 points per game during the week, hitting 13-of-30 shots (43.3 percent) from the field, and four total three-point baskets.
He pulled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists, helping the Mastodons, along with Omaha, to one of the two 2-0 weeks among Summit League teams, including one of four Bracketbuster wins in the league over the weekend.
In the game against Bowling Green, Gaines eclipsed the previous scoring mark of 1,765 points, previously held by Sean Gibson (1989-93), and has 1,773 heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
The Mastodons (14-16) are riding a current four-game win streak. They will close the regular season at Oakland on Saturday at 6 p.m.
