The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating the apparent shooting death of a man early this morning.
The incident took place around 1:20 a.m., according to a news release from the department. Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of McDonald Street to investigate a reported shooting; upon arrival, officers found a man who had apparently been shot.
Paramedics dispatched to the scene declared the man deceased. His identity has not been released.
The release said that detectives, officers and crime scene personnel were conducting interviews and processing the location for any evidence, but no suspect has been determined or motive established.
The name of the deceased person, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Allen County Coroner's office after an autopsy is conducted. If the death is ruled a homicide, it will be the sixth in Allen County this year.
