The Rant

The Violence Against Women Act passed the U.S. Senate 78-22. All 22 who voted against this were Republicans. Guess some care more about our wives, daughters, mothers, etc., and their safety than others.

Will registration of all guns keep the mentally challenged from committing gun violence. No … .

Shame on the Hillary (Clinton) defender. Do we again have to go through the litany of reasons the U.S. went to Iraq and Afghanistan? The brave military personnel who have lost their lives have not died in vain.

After Mayor (Tom) Henry and the City Council have spent all the “Legacy” money on frivolus projects, they will come back and raise taxes to pay for the sewer and water updates, already needed to meet national standards. “Legacy” money should not be spent on entertainment projects!

Small child rings doorbell, asks for $5 for a charity. I said no. She looked bewildered. The adult with her should explain that a donation is what the person who is asked decides to give. Not a set amount that the child asks for. Sad. Adult missed a teaching moment.

At 8 a.m., I stopped at a red light on Crescent Avenue in a school zone. Two cars sped past me, ignoring the light. Police car had to wait to enter the intersection. He just watched and did not take action. He could easily have turned after them. Why no ticket?

Some parents in Sullivan, Ind., want to ban gay children from the local prom. They want to create what they call a traditional prom and would not allow gay students to attend. Traditional values: Bigotry the way my daddy taught me.

Thank you to the sheriff's officer who tried to hit me going through the intersection at Monarch Drive and Maplecrest Road, then saying that “it was a dumb thing” because I waited my turn to go through on my bicycle.

A cruise ship loses power. People say it's unbearable. What about World War II vets shipped to Japan? Was that a pleasure cruise? We have raised a generation of sissies, and now they are passing that on to their kids. What has happened to Americans? I think that they are all soft.

My suggestion for the (Allen County) Courthouse green is a gallows. If you are convicted of murder, you get to walk from the Courthouse to the gallows and be hung. A couple of these, and the murder rate would go down drastically. No prison, no family visits, just death. Like you did to your victim.

I'm an educated ranter who indeed knows that Maine and Nebraska allocate their electoral votes by congressional district. I'm also educated enough to realize it's no coincidence that Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida, blue states which currently have Republican-controlled legislatures, are the only ones considering changing their rules.

Mirroring Republican conspiracy theories, I'm starting a Democratic one. Paul Ryan took numerous water breaks during the 2012 vice presidential debate. Now Marco Rubio awkwardly interrupts his response to the State of the Union address by grabbing a bottle of water. Proof that Republicanism, combined with climate change, produces dehydration.

The pathetic liberal media will turn a sip of water into an inexcusable, career-ending gaffe.
