Missing Auburn teen found dead, police say

After seeking the public's help in finding an Auburn boy who was feared to be suicidal and armed with a weapon, the Auburn Police Department announced that they found his body Tuesday afternoon.The body of Alexander R Rodecap,16, was found at 4 p.m. in Muncie, according to a news release. The Muncie Police Department is investigating the cause and manner of the boy's death, so no other information will be released now, according to the release.

He was last seen in the Auburn area at around 10:30 p.m. Monday. Auburn schools were locked down Tuesday as a precaution during the search for Rodecap, though he wasn't believed to be a danger to anyone else. Police officers were posted at all Auburn schools.

The Auburn Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Auburn Fire Department, DeKalb County Probation, DeKalb County Schools, and the local and area media.

Auburn Police also expressed gratitude for the many tips and leads provided by the public and said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Alexander."
