Warriors outscored 23-5 early in second half

Indiana Tech battled Cornerstone on the road for a half, but ultimately dropped its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference women's basketball game 69-56.The loss dropped Indiana Tech to 13-16 overall and 11-10 in the WHAC, while Cornerstone improved to 18-11 on the year with a 12-9 mark in league play.

The two teams traded baskets to begin the game before Cornerstone erupted for 10 straight points for a 17-7 lead at the 9:50 mark.

The deficit grew to 13 with just over four minutes left in the half, however the Warriors ended the period on a 16-4 run, capped off by a Rayana Villalpando 3-pointer before the buzzer, to close the gap to 34-33 at the break.

The Golden Eagles regained the momentum quickly coming out of the locker room though, opening the second stanza on a 23-5 run to put the game out of reach for the Warriors.

Cornerstone outshot Tech 42 percent (28-for-67) to 32 percent (20-for-63) on the night, and grabbed 17 more rebounds than the Warriors.

Former Homestead High School standout Rachael Kruse paced the Warriors with 17 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Northrop alum Preonda Reese and Shallante Clements added nine points each, while reigning WHAC Player of the Week, Chelsea Carradine, hauled in 10 rebounds to go along with eight points.

The Warriors will finish their regular season with a home game Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 8 Davenport University.
