Pampered Pets Bed & Biscuit raised $500 for Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control to help with shelter needs.

Paver deadline nears

Manchester Main Street's engraved paver order deadline is March 1 to purchase pavers for North Manchester's downtown sidewalks at a reduced free. Pavers range from $100-$250 and are available in 6-inch squares and 6-by-9-inch squares. Orders taken after March 1 will include an additional $50 installation fee. Spay program

Company’s recycling benefits school

API Alliance has begun a paper recycling initiative, which will benefit Huntertown Elementary School's fundraising efforts. The company started the initiative after hearing about the school's Paper Gator recycling program.

CANI offers energy assistance

Community Action of Northeast Indiana continues to take appointments for energy assistance for all of its offices in Allen, DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben and Whitley counties. Applicants may only receive Energy Assistance once per heating period (Nov. 5-May 15). To make an appointment, call 423-3546 or 1-800-589-2264, press “1” for Family Support. Additional program information and an online application can be found at www.canihelp.org. CANI will also mail applications if needed.

Kohl’s accepts nominations

Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program is accepting nominations through March 15 for volunteers ages 6-18. Two nominees from each of the more than 1,100 Kohl's stores nationwide will win a $50 Kohl's gift card, and more than 200 will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education. Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education, and Kohl's will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner's behalf. KREMC offers trip

Kosciusko REMC is seeking current high school juniors, who are the dependents of KREMC members, to apply for the 2013 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to join other Indiana youth in an all-expenses-paid trip June 12-20 to Washington, D.C. Download applications at www.kremc.com. Deadline is Feb. 20.

Kids Against Hunger seeks funds

Kids Against Hunger volunteers hope to pack 58,000 meals March 23 at Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School, 11565 N. U.S. 27, Decatur. Guatemala is this year's recipient for 1/4 of the meals, with 3/4 of the meals going to food pantries in Adams, Wells and Allen counties. Food pantries currently not signed up to receive meals may call Jan Buuck at 639-3380.

The organization also is collecting funds for the project. Send checks payable to Kids Against Hunger and mail to: Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friedheim, Attn: Kids Against Hunger, 10653 N. 550W, Decatur, IN 46733. Checks must be mailed by March 16.

Volunteers are needed to work 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. Call Lin or Joe Gorman at 1-260-547-4385 or email linogorman@gmail.com by March 16. Praise bands are asked to volunteer to provide music while volunteers pack meals. Call Jan Buuck at 639-3380 to get on the schedule.

Volunteers needed

Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home needs volunteers to help provide companionship for patients, as well as provide light meal preparation and assistance in Hospice Home. Volunteers needed

Camp Red Cedar needs volunteers to help children with and without disabilities by assisting with therapeutic riding lessons and general camp activities. Volunteers must be age 14 and older and attend orientation and training. Volunteers are needed for late afternoon and early evenings Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Page applications accepted

Indiana state representatives are accepting applications for the Indiana House Page Program.

The program offers students ages 13-18 the chance to visit the Statehouse and see a full day of legislative activity.

Along with visiting the capitol building and touring such locations as the governor's office, the chambers of the Indiana House and Senate, and the Indiana Supreme Court, pages get the chance to witness floor sessions and committee meetings and help staff members.

Students who serve as pages are excused from school for the day and are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Statehouse.

Pages are asked to include two different dates when they can come to the Statehouse through April. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days to serve.
